The East Side Partnership (“ESP”), in unprecedented cooperation with local businesses, community leaders, schools and City Government, is building Stamford, Connecticut’s first-ever “Farmers’ Market” to take advantage of EBT processing and so, for the first time, fully support the unique needs of its highly-diverse, urban community of approximately 120,000 residents.
Working directly with new and existing Connecticut farmers and growers, ESP will coordinate, support, and expand the opportunities available to both vendors and consumers at sixteen (16) integrated Farmers’ Market “Events” to be held between October 1st, 2010 and September 1st, 2012, at a new site contributed by the Domus Organization, specifically for this project.

Located at Domus’ award winning Trailblazers Academy in the heart of Stamford’s low-income and historically underrepresented, East Side community, The SUN Project will have access to both the school’s commercial kitchen and classrooms—making possible the project’s ongoing development of a rich set of training and educational programs to include vendors, students, parents, teachers as well as the greater Stamford community. With an area of only 38 square miles and just minutes from both a major interstate and Metro-North, New York City’s commuter rail line, The Sun Project and its programs would remain highly accessible, not just to the East Side community of Stamford, but to the entire city and surrounding towns as well.
